Obedience is Greater than Sacrifice
When Saul disobeys the orders of God given through Samuel, Samuel tells Saul that God will now give the kingdom to someone else. In the midst of this, Jonathan helps defeat the Philistines, raiding the enemy camp at night alongside his armor-bearer.
As Jesus journeys towards Jerusalem, he is warned that Herod Antipas wants to kill him. Jesus responds by lamenting the city, stating that they will not see him until they say “blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Psalm 118:26)
Observation and Activation
Saul had the right idea when leading the Lord’s armies against their enemies, but he was disobedient in his actions of worship. He missed the heart of God’s intentions. Later, Jesus says that even obedience would not be enough if you do not know Him.
Consider your spiritual journey. Are you living a life of religious actions without truly knowing the Father? Pray and ask God to reveal more of Himself to you.
