Forgiveness and Faith

Overview: 2 Samuel 1-3, Luke 17:1-19

2 Samuel tells the story of King David, from the rise of his reign over Judah and Israel to the challenges to his rule resulting from his own sins. With the death of Saul, David finally assumes the throne promised to him when anointed by Samuel in 1 Samuel 16

As Jesus continues his journey to Jerusalem, he emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and faith.

Observation and Activation
“And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.” - 2 Samuel 2:4

With the deaths of Saul and Abner, David honored two men who had been his enemies for years. Instead of gloating in his personal victory, David mourned their deaths.

Jesus emphasized the importance of forgiving others, as He would soon forgive those who crucified Him. He also cleansed ten lepers, yet only one, an outsider, returned in faith to thank Him.

Is there someone that’s hurt you in the past, who you need to forgive today?
