Not My Will, But Yours Be Done
During the reign of King Solomon, his greatest contribution to Israel is building a magnificent temple. Once completed, the Ark of the Covenant moves into it and becomes the physical place where the presence of God is seen among His people.
In Luke, the suffering and death of Jesus draw closer. He tells them He has been praying for their faith to stand firm when tested and prepares them for the journey ahead.
Observation and Activation
“O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to your servants who walk before you with all their heart.” - 1 Kings 8:23
Every element of the temple was to be an expression of the glory of God and intended to create a sense of awe for everyone who went into it. When it was finished, Solomon got down on his knees and dedicated the temple to the Lord.
It is in Jesus’ suffering that we see the cost of what was to come. Yet, Jesus submitted His will to the purposes of the Father immediately before his arrest and betrayal.
Are you willing to give up your own will for God’s will?
