Paths of Righteousness
The Proverbs of Solomon begin, following the introductory wisdom poems of Proverbs 1-9. They contrast the righteous and the wicked, showing the path for a wise son.
A righteous person works hard, is honest, humble, and seeks wisdom. A wicked person lies, cheats, and causes destruction around them. Righteousness leads to life, freedom, and mercy. Wickedness leads to death.
Paul answers questions from the Corinthians about marriage in light of the urgency of the times. Their second question asked about the advisability of marriage in times of distress for the unmarried and the widowed. Paul emphasizes that both marriage and singleness are gifts from God. Both are good options that give different opportunities for service in the life of the believer.
