The Throne in Heaven

Overview: Amos 1-3, Revelation 4

The book of Amos is named for the prophet, a shepherd from a small village in Judah. The main theme of the book is the universal justice of God.

The prophet begins with judgments against Israel’s violent neighbors. Judah’s chastisement is for forsaking the law. Israel is the prophet’s main focus. Israel’s judgment is for turning its back upon the Lord who brought them out of Egypt.

In Revelation, Jesus invites John "in the Spirit" into heaven to receive the revelation of the end of history. John receives a heavenly vision of God on His glorious throne.

The revelation of God’s throne room puts the entirety of John’s message into context. The reigning King of all that is, is in total control. Consider what it means that God is in control. How can this bring you peace and comfort?
