The Seven Seals
Amos foresees judgment and destruction for Israel. This makes him a target of the people in power. The prophet’s final message carries the hope of God’s restoration of Israel.
In Revelation, John records a heavenly vision of the events from Jesus’ victory on the cross to the new heaven and earth. Jesus, the Lamb of God, opens a scroll revealing God’s judgment of sin and salvation for those who believe in Him.
The first four seals of the scroll bring the Lamb’s enemies to justice. The fifth seal justifies the martyrs killed for their faith. The sixth seal introduces the climax of justice at the end of history.
While both readings describe judgment, they also carry hope for God’s people. What are the hopeful messages you find in these passages?
