Exodus 25, Exodus 26, and Exodus 27

The tabernacle was the place where God chose to dwell in the midst of His people. God gave Moses very specific instructions for constructing the tabernacle. These details were of great importance because they made room for Israel’s divine king, later fulfilled in Jesus:

  • The table for bread - Jesus is the bread of life (John 6:32-35)
  • The golden lampstand - Jesus is the light of the world (John 8:12)
  • The veil before the Most Holy Place - Jesus’ flesh (Hebrews 10:19-20)
  • The bronze altar - Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice (Romans 3:24-25)

In the tabernacle, God dwelt in the midst of His people in a way that resembles the garden of Eden in Genesis 2. Through Jesus, all creation can be redeemed and restored into the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 22).

“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” Matthew 21:42
Matthew 21:23-46

Jesus used two parables to point out the chief priests and elders’ unbelief. In the first, He compared them to a son who was given the opportunity to obey his father by caring for his vineyard but didn’t. He compared people they looked down on to a son who didn’t obey at first but then chose to obey. Jesus rebuked the religious leaders for their unbelief.

In the second parable, He compared God to a master who left his vineyard in the care of tenants. Those tenants killed the servants and the son of the master. Jesus condemned these chief priests for not encouraging the people of Israel to accept His invitation into the kingdom.

Make It Personal
  • God has made a way, through Jesus, for a relationship with you. Have you accepted Jesus as your savior?
  • Is there a step of obedience you need to take in your relationship with Jesus?
  • Is there someone in your life who needs to experience the Lord’s forgiveness? Pray for that person today.
