God challenges our assumptions

Overview: Job 35-37, Acts 10:25-48

Elihu corrects Job for being quick to blame God for His suffering and slow to praise Him. Elihu argues that Job’s suffering is God showing Job how powerful He is.

In Acts 10, God sends Peter to witness to Cornelius’s household. The Holy Spirit falls on the Gentiles, and many are baptized.

Job’s friends were putting words in God’s mouth. And Peter needed a vision to preach to Gentiles.

Like Elihu and Peter, we too can presume to know what God wants. What assumptions have been challenged as you’ve been reading the Bible?
