Ezra 1-3, John 18:1-24

Scripture Fulfilled

Overview: Ezra 1-3, John 18:1-24

The book of Ezra documents the return of the people of God to Jerusalem 70 years after they went into exile. This fulfills prophesy made by the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 25:11).

“In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing.” - Ezra 1:1

Jesus is betrayed by Judas, tried before the Jewish high priest, and denied by Peter. John shows how this sequence of events fulfills Old Testament Scripture and is a part of God’s plan.

God reveals Himself to us through Scripture. Jesus knew what was ahead of Him, yet He followed His Father’s plan. Take comfort in knowing that the Lord will be with you in any trial.
