Resurrection Life
Overview: 2 Chronicles 8-9, John 11:17-44
The Lord blessed Israel under Solomon’s reign because of his obedience in building the temple. Solomon’s wealth and wisdom were so great that kings and queens from around the world came to learn from him.
Jesus arrives four days after Lazarus dies. He weeps as he identifies with Martha and Mary’s grief. But He also commands Lazarus to come to life, proving His authority over death and His heart for those He loves.
Observation and Activation
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?’” - John 11:25-26
Solomon had it all, even the favor of God on His life. But even a life of prosperity and blessing is finite and fragile. This life will end and we will “sleep with our fathers and be buried” as Solomon was (2 Chronicles 9:31).
But Jesus demonstrates His authority over death by raising Lazarus. His power of life over death is one He has passed on to His followers. When we connect with the Lord by believing in Him, we receive resurrection life! “Do you believe this?” (John 11:26)
