The Hall of Faith

Overview: Ezekiel 17-18, Hebrews 11:17-40

Ezekiel uses parables and metaphors to explain God’s judgment on Jerusalem and Judah. The parable of the eagle and the vine represents the current and imminent threat of Judah’s destruction. The prophet declares the error in seeking to escape God’s pronounced judgment. He then emphasizes that God views each generation as responsible for their own actions.

The author of Hebrews recounts many of God’s faithful people in the Old Testament and the times when their faith was tested. Abraham (Genesis 22), Isaac (Genesis 27), Jacob (Genesis 48), Joseph (Genesis 50), Moses (Exodus 2), Rahab (Joshua 6), and many more point to the greater faith to come. He shows the thread of faith that continues for saints to this day.
