Kingdom Inheritance
Overview: Jeremiah 49-50, Hebrews 1
Jeremiah announces the Lord’s judgment of the nations, showing that God’s rule and reign extend to the ends of the earth. Jeremiah promises that God will preserve the descendants of Israel and that He will bring them back to their land. The Lord judges Babylon, proving that no nation is too strong or mighty for the Lord.
The letter to the Hebrews shows that Jesus is greater than any angel, priest, or Old Testament institution. Though the author is anonymous, he or she writes to an audience of Jewish Christians to prove that Jesus is the fulfillment of the old covenant.
In Hebrews 1, the author writes that Jesus is superior to the angels because He is the Son of God. As the Son, Jesus is God’s final and definitive revelation of His word.
“Having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.” - Hebrews 1:4
