The Founder of Our Faith
Overview: Jeremiah 51-52, Hebrews 2
Jeremiah concludes his announcement of God’s judgment on the nations with His judgment of Babylon. Yet, until that day, the people of Jerusalem must face their own judgment during their exile to Babylon. Jerusalem falls, but the Lord has not forsaken His people. He promised David a permanent kingdom from which the Messiah would come, and Jehoiachin’s release keeps that hope alive.
The author of Hebrews continues his argument that Jesus is superior to the angels. He warns the reader against neglecting salvation since the Lord Himself has declared it to us. Because Jesus took the form of humanity, He is the perfect founder of our salvation and the whole world is subjected to Him (Psalm 8:4-6).
