Faith and Love in Suffering
Jeremiah struggles with feeling betrayed by God when he faces opposition to his prophetic work. When the Lord refuses his requests, Jeremiah complains again. Eventually, he is renewed and restored by God to preach judgment and repentance to Judah.
Paul writes his second letter to the church of the Thessalonians shortly after his first. In this letter, he again aims to clear up more confusion about the second coming of Jesus. The situation in Thessalonica has taken a surprising turn, as the church there believes that Jesus has already come. Paul comforts them by reminding them of events that must take place before His return, and gives thanks to God for their faith and love while suffering.
