A Future and a Hope

Overview: Jeremiah 29-30, 1 Timothy 5

After confronting the false belief that the exile would end quickly, Jeremiah transitions to the future hope of God’s people. He prophesies restoration for Judah and Israel, that the Lord would restore the nation. He envisions the hope, healing, and rebuilding of the nation whose God is the Lord.

Paul gives Timothy some practical guidance for how a church shaped by the gospel should look. He instructs the church to honor widows, emphasizing the biblical ideal of caring for one’s family. He then gives guidance for honoring elders, instructing the church to provide for them and to be careful in accusations against them.
