God is With Us

Overview: Isaiah 7-8, 2 Corinthians 3

Faithless King Ahaz faces external threats from other nations. In response, Isaiah announces the birth of Immanuel, whose name means “God is with us." The prophet’s words find their ultimate fulfillment in Jesus (Matthew 1:22-23).

"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." - Isaiah 7:14

Paul explains to the Corinthians that they share in the blessings of the new covenant Jesus has established. God is transforming them into His image through the Spirit as they live for Him (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Ahaz refused to believe God was with him in his situation. As you reflect on 2 Corinthians 3:12-18, what do you see as the “secret” to a transformed life?
