A Joy-Filled Life

Overview: Isaiah 11-12, 2 Corinthians 5

God redefines the future of His people, promising that His grace will preserve a remnant through judgment. Isaiah 11 is a prophecy about how the Messiah will transform the world, fulfilled in Jesus. The Messiah is described as a "shoot from the stump of Jesse," portraying him as the promised heir of David remaining after God’s judgment.

This poem describes the paradise of the Messiah’s triumphant transformation of the world. Isaiah concludes this section by looking forward to the enjoyment of God’s grace when His people will praise Him for the joys of salvation.

Paul encourages the Corinthians to have confidence in the future resurrection and the reality of judgment. Paul’s ministry serves as a witness to the power of God that gives new life and purpose. God’s relationship with humanity is reconciled through Jesus’ sacrifice. As His followers, we are all called to be ministers of that reconciliation to the world.
