God’s Glory, Our Joy, the World’s Good
God’s judgment and grace apply to the whole world because He is the Judge and Savior of all nations. Isaiah continues his first series of oracles against the nations surrounding Judah.
Judah had turned to Egypt for help against Assyria, but God has the power to judge and save even mighty Egypt. Isaiah looks forward to the time when God brings forth followers from all over the world.
Paul appeals to the church in Corinth to give to the needs of suffering believers in Jerusalem. It is good to be ready to give, but the blessing comes when we release what has been given to us to meet the needs of another. When we give, it is for God’s glory, our joy, and the world’s good.
Consider the blessings of your life. Thank God for them. Ask Him to show you your opportunity to act as a channel of His blessing to the world today.
