It’s easy to be discouraged when expectations aren’t met or things don’t go the way we planned. Unmet expectations are no match for God’s goodness. In Haggai 2:1-9, God encourages His people to not be dejected when the present isn’t like the past. 

As you bring your unmet expectations to Lord, may you hear your Father’s voice and trust that His plans are better than ours. God is good and faithful to encourage us in our disappointment and remind us that He is working to make all things beautiful in time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Ways to Pray

• Spend some time thanking God for what He has done and will do according to His power.
• Be honest with God about your disappointment and let Him encourage you.
• Ask God if unmet expectations are keeping you from moving forward.
