Session 1
He will be our Shepherd
From 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting Guide
Call to Prayer
It’s hard to know who to trust these days. Leaders in every sector of society flood the airwaves with opinions. Who can we trust? In Ezekiel 34, God holds Israel’s leadership accountable for their failure to shepherd His people well.
There is only one perfect Shepherd: Jesus the Messiah. Let’s trust His promises in today’s reading. These promises belong to us in these confusing days. Our Shepherd means to surround us with protection, provision, and peace. We can trust Him.
As you read, pray, and fast today, see yourself as a beloved sheep, cared for by Jesus Himself. May He give you ears to hear His voice. May you enjoy His presence and provision today, with a heart at rest.

Ways to Pray
- As you read the passage, pray the promises of Ezekiel 34:25-27 for your family and our church.
- Ask God to give you ears to hear His voice, then pause for a few moments to listen. Write down what you feel He is saying to you.
- Thank Him for all the ways He has protected and provided for you.
