Session 7

Unwrap the Gift of Peace

From Join the Chorus!
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:7

Is peace found in a hobby? In a quiet moment? Perhaps on a sandy beach? Many people believe peace is found in money. Others wage war in a desperate attempt at peace. Some look for peace in seclusion. Some try to find peace in a habit or substance. Our world searches for peace in many ways, when all the while, true everlasting peace has been freely given as a gift.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:4-7

The promise of Philippians 4:4-7 is that the peace of God is available as a gift, but that gift must be unwrapped. We unpackage the gift of peace when we rejoice in the Lord. We access the gift through prayer, petition, and thanksgiving. Peace guards us as we unite our hearts and minds with Christ Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Christian, remember that “The Lord is near.” He came close on that first Christmas Day. Christ is now with us by the Holy Spirit. Put away fear and anxiety. Call out to Him and access the gift of peace.
