Session 1
Jesus is your strength
From NewSpring at Home: A Study on Colossians
Scripture
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” – Colossians 2:6-7
Observation
Paul is encouraging people to continue following Jesus after accepting Him as Lord and Savior. He urges us to continue to look to Jesus for strength, not to try to depend on ourselves.
As Christians, we are called to continue seeking the truth, growing stronger in our faith and our understanding of it as we follow Jesus. When we do, we’ll find we always have reasons to give thanks to God.
Application
- What practical steps can you take each day to pursue following Jesus?
- How can you seek the truth and continue to grow in your understanding of it?
- Do you express your gratitude to God in all situations? It is easy to have a thankful posture when things are going well, but what steps can we take to be grateful in all circumstances?
Prayer
Jesus, help me to follow you today. Help me to remember all that I’ve read and heard from you. May your Word change my heart and perspective day by day until it becomes instinctive to look to you for help. Thank you for always loving me and helping grow.
