Session 5

We have to get real to get healed

From Gauntlet: An 8-Day Prayer Guide

Vulnerability is the first step to freedom and healing. The same way darkness ceases when a light is turned on, the darkness in our hearts vanishes when exposed to the light of the world: Jesus.

Until we confess what’s in our hearts, it has control over us. How many times have you gone to great lengths to hide what was really happening out of fear of what God and others will think? The constant fight to keep our struggles secret is itself a form of bondage.

The truth of the Gospel is what sets us free (John 8:32). Jesus paid for every sin so we didn’t have to. He offers us forgiveness from the past, peace in the present, and hope for the future. Five truths we want everyone to understand before leaving Daytona are simple:

  1. It’s OK to not have everything together.
  2. Jesus knows everything about you and loves you anyway.
  3. There is no shame or judgment in asking for help.
  4. You don’t have to do this on your own.
  5. Victory is yours. You just have to believe.

Too often, we tell ourselves we aren’t allowed to be weak or admit our brokenness. In the last full day at Gauntlet, we want every student and leader to feel the freedom to be vulnerable and to have the courage to confess their struggles, their doubts, and their pain.

How to Pray Today:

  • Pray for vulnerability in sessions, group time, and conversations throughout the day.
  • Pray for leaders and volunteers to receive confessions with humility, extending the same forgiveness, grace, and love that Jesus extends to us.
  • Pray for every person at Gauntlet to leave with a better understanding of Jesus’ grace and love.
