Fear or Faith
Gideon leads Israel against Midian when the Lord calls him to reduce his army to 300, giving God the glory in their victory. Later, Abimelech, one of Gideon’s sons, leads Israel further into their downward spiral away from the Lord.
Luke helps the reader answer the question, "Who then is this?" (Luke 8:25) by showing Jesus’ divine authority. Jesus calms a storm, heals a man possessed by demons, heals a synagogue ruler’s daughter, and heals another woman who had faith.
Observation and Activation
The Lord called Gideon to trust His victory despite only having a few hundred men. Because Gideon obeyed, God’s people won a great victory.
In Luke, Jesus saved and healed many people, oftentimes because of their faith.
Where do we need to trust God more, despite our fears? What type of things can God do through you?
