Ascent of the Worshipper
Overview: Psalms 120-123, Romans 12
These psalms are the beginning of a section known as the Psalms of Ascent. Worshippers sang these as they traveled up to Jerusalem in pilgrimage. The journey to Jerusalem mirrored the person seeking God who reigns on high.
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” - Romans 12:1
Romans 12 calls us to offer our lives to God in full surrender. This creates an intimacy with God that changes us and allows us to know God in a way that reveals His will to us.
A life seeking God will be a life of consistent transformation. Romans 12 describes many of the attributes of the transformed life of a worshipper.
