He Will Fight For You

Overview: Psalms 109-111, Romans 9

David prays to the Lord for vengeance on his enemies, trusting the Lord’s justice over his own. Psalm 110 is one of the most quoted Old Testament passages in the New Testament, as Jesus has taken his Davidic kingship by his resurrection.

In Romans, Paul writes that God’s righteousness to the Gentiles is dependent on His faithfulness to Israel. God’s saving promises to Israel are irrevocable because they depend on His word. Yet in God’s sovereign choice, the true descendants of Abraham are the children of the promise, those who have faith in Christ.
