The Lamb’s Book of Life
Overview: Zechariah 11-12, Revelation 20
Zechariah prophesies about the return of the King to His people, calling for the purity of God’s people and the integrity of their leaders. The Lord reassures them that the fate of the community lies in His sovereign hands. God leads His people to true repentance, resulting in their restoration and renewal.
Revelation 20 is an interlude to the action, depicting the present church age as a thousand-year reign of Christ. Satan is bound (Matthew 12:29) and the gospel light has spread to the nations (Matthew 4:14-16).
God defeats and destroys the dragon, concluding the battle from Revelation 16:13-16 and Revelation 19:17-21. At the last judgment, all the dead are raised to be judged either by their deeds or by God’s gracious recording of their names in the Lamb’s book of life.
In both passages, we are reassured that God saves His people and destroys Satan in the end. How does being reassured that God is the sovereign victor give you strength and courage for what you are going through now?
