Saving People and Celebrating Jesus
Overview: Esther 8-10, Acts 3
After Haman’s execution, the king exalted Mordecai. Esther dispatched a counter decree that saved the Jews from annihilation. The book concludes with the establishment of the feast of Purim to remind future generations of God’s deliverance.
Peter’s healing of a lame man at the temple caused quite a stir! But, as in his Pentecost message (Acts 2), Peter shifted the attention to the risen Jesus, whose power had healed the man.
Mordecai, Esther, and Peter focused on God’s purpose rather than on themselves. How can we shine the spotlight on Jesus?
