The Fear of the Lord

Overview: Job 6-7, Acts 5:1-16

Job and his friends explore Job’s suffering and his standing before God. Job reasserts his innocence and laments his own futile life. Job complains about God’s watchfulness of man as a gaze from which he cannot escape.

The Acts community shared together by selling property to provide for those in need. Ananias and Sapphira abused this practice by keeping back some proceeds. They were free to give the money or not, but when they lied to the Holy Spirit about it, they faced divine judgment.

These passages should grow our respect for the holiness and power of God.
