The Lord of Compassion
Overview: 2 Kings 12-14, John 4:1-30
2 Kings 12-14 chronicles several of the kings of Israel and Judah. These chapters tell about the major events during their reigns and whether these kings did "what was right" or "what was evil" in the sight of the Lord.
In John, Jesus encounters a Samaritan woman that He meets at a well.
Observation and Activation
In 2 Kings, many of the kings of Israel and Judah fail to live according to the law in their roles as king, leading their people into sin. Yet, God has compassion for Israel and honors His promise to Abraham to make His people a great nation (2 Kings 14:26-27).
Jews looked down on Samaritans because they had intermarried and created their own version of the Israelite religion. Jesus had compassion for a woman who was considered unworthy and revealed Himself as her Messiah and Savior.
Can you think of a time when the Lord had compassion for you?
