God’s Wisdom

Overview: 2 Chronicles 1-3, John 10:22-42

As he began his reign, King Solomon asked God for wisdom to lead Israel well, and God gave it to him. The king also began construction of the temple in fulfillment of God’s promise that he would do so (1 Chronicles 17:11-12).

Jesus affirmed his unity in being and purpose with his Father. Many of his hearers found it hard to believe he was the Messiah, let alone God’s Son.

Observation and Activation
“I and the Father are one.” -John 10:30

King Solomon demonstrated his devotion to God by seeking God’s wisdom. God promised to give Solomon that wisdom and the king exercised that wisdom as he made plans to build God a glorious temple in Jerusalem.

Jesus’ hearers wanted him to declare himself Messiah. Jesus replied that the works he did already testified to who he was and to his relationship with God the Father. As you consider Jesus’ words, why do you think people today have a hard time seeing Jesus for who he is?
