His Steadfast Love Endures Forever

Overview: 2 Chronicles 4-7, John 11:1-16

Solomon builds and dedicates the temple to the LORD. The Lord visits Solomon, promising to answer the prayers prayed there and giving a warning of what will happen if Israel abandons the Lord.

Lazarus’s sisters send a message to Jesus that he is sick, but Jesus waits two days before leaving to go to their house. When Jesus tells the disciples they are going back to Judea, they respond in fear, not wanting to go because of people who want to kill Jesus.

Observation and Activation
“For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.” - 2 Chronicles 5:13

The song of the Israelites in 2 Chronicles 5 may have been hard to believe for Mary and Martha as they mourned Lazarus. They had probably grown up singing this old song, but in moments of fear and sadness, did it feel real?

Are you going through something hard right now? Is it difficult to believe in God’s goodness and love? If so, reflect on how He has been with you in trials before and how He has brought you through them. Ask Him to help you trust His goodness and love.
