Perseverance in Adversity

Overview: 2 Chronicles 17-20, John 12:20-50

Jehoshaphat’s leadership grows the spiritual and military strength of Judah. Despite these reforms, he is criticized for his alliances with the wicked Ahab.

Jesus responds to some Gentiles in Jerusalem that anyone who follows and serves him will receive eternal life. Jesus then makes bold statements that fulfill many of Isaiah’s prophecies.

Observation and Activation

While Ahab rebelled against the Lord and His word, Jehoshaphat’s repentance and reforms show his faith.

Jesus knows that his hour of giving himself up for all people is coming, signaling that his mission is about to come to an end.

How can we persevere even when things get hard? Ask God to give you faith through the tough times.
