The Lord’s Victories are Our Victories

Overview: 1 Kings 17-18, Luke 24:1-35

Ahab and Jezebel did their best to promote the worship of the god Baal in the northern kingdom. But, through Elijah the prophet, the Lord demonstrated his power over Baal and confirmed his place as Israel’s one and only God.

Jesus’ resurrection astounded His followers. At first, they found it hard to believe Jesus had risen, but his post-resurrection appearances convinced them.

Observation and Activation

“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.” -Luke 24:5-6

The Lord sent Elijah when Israel needed him the most. God’s victory in the contest between Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel bore witness to God’s supremacy over the false god Baal.

Jesus’ death and resurrection secured the salvation of all who place their faith in him! His followers saw him alive and bore witness to his victory over sin, death, and the grave.
