Future Hope

Overview: Ezekiel 39-40, 1 Peter 4

Ezekiel 39 concludes a section showing God’s supremacy among the nations. The Lord promises His people security from their enemies and future hope. Ezekiel 40 begins a new vision of restoration to Ezekiel, representing the presence of God within the new community. The vision of the new temple reveals the splendor of God among His people.

Peter encourages those living as exiles to live in a way that pleases God. He warns the church that we will suffer for Christ and calls us to persevere in suffering. The Christian life is characterized by love, hospitality, service, and bringing glory to Jesus. Peter quotes Proverbs 11:31 to remind his readers to give themselves to God in their suffering.
