Remember Others in Prayer

Overview: Jeremiah 3-4, Colossians 4

Through the prophet Jeremiah, the Lord appeals to Israel and Judah to repent and turn back to Him. He warns of the coming judgment as a result of their sin. Jeremiah uses poetic imagery to suggest that the coming disaster will be as if God’s act of creation has been reversed, so His people should repent.

Paul encourages the Colossians to persist in prayer, remembering him before the Lord. His hope is to continue spreading the Gospel. Since he is writing from prison, he sends Tychicus and Onesimus to the church, so they can update the people on Paul’s ministry. Paul concludes his letter by encouraging the church to be a powerful and attractive testimony to the goodness of God in their community.
