Stand Firm in the Faith

Overview: Jeremiah 17-18, 2 Thessalonians 2

As Jeremiah struggles with fierce opposition to his prophetic word in Judah, he is renewed by God to continue his work. He exposes the brokenness of the human condition (Jeremiah 17:9) and begs Judah to listen to the Lord (Jeremiah 17:23). As Jeremiah is renewed for his calling, the people renew their faithful opposition to him and God.

Paul reminds the Thessalonians that before the day of the Lord arrives, several signs must first take place. He refutes the false claim that Jesus has already returned and he gives clear instructions on how we know that to be true. He reassures the church and calls them to stand firm in the teachings and traditions that have been passed down through them.
