The Hymn of Christ
Isaiah prepares the people of God of all ages for the salvation of the Lord that makes all things new. He exposes the selfish, the immoral, and idol worshipers as false people of God who have no place in His kingdom. But, for those who repent, He invites them into His presence and revives their spirits.
Paul urges the Philippians to serve with humility and be united in love. He points to the example of Jesus in one of the earliest known hymns in the church (Philippians 2:5-11). This beautiful poem traces Christ’s pre-existence, incarnation, death, resurrection, and ascension. In light of Christ’s example for us in humble service, we also must show faith and obedience in our everyday lives.
