Jars of Clay

Overview: Isaiah 9-10, 2 Corinthians 4

God redefines the future of His people by preserving a remnant through the judgment executed on Israel and Judah. Isaiah 9 opens with a beautiful prophecy of the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Isaiah announces grace for Israel through God’s righteous judgment of their pride and arrogance. Isaiah 10 ends with a prophecy that a remnant of Israel will return to the Lord.

Paul teaches the church at Corinth that God’s power is shown through human weakness. Despite his affliction, Paul does not lose heart because of the same power that raised Jesus from the dead living in him. Only God could work through weakness to point others to the “things that are unseen,” revealing the power of God.

How is God using a trial in your life to reveal His power?
