The Simple Gospel
Overview: Isaiah 31-32, Galatians 1
Isaiah delivers God’s sovereign word to His people, as the Lord speaks into history to show His plan for salvation. In a series of six laments, Isaiah warns against trusting in man and promises blessings to those who trust in God.
He writes about a coming king, the Messiah, who will reign in righteousness. He looks forward to the day when "the Spirit is poured upon us from on high" (Isaiah 32:15), reversing the disasters of judgment.
Paul’s letter to the Galatians reveals the heart of the gospel is justification by faith alone. Paul addresses the crisis in the Galatian church. A group of false teachers is claiming that Gentiles must adopt the Mosaic law (Genesis-Deuteronomy) to be saved.
Paul begins the letter by sharing his personal testimony of the gospel, reassuring them that his message is the authentic one.
He implores the Galatians to not get distracted by any other salvation other than the gospel of Jesus and what He has done for you. Write about when you met Jesus in your Scripture journal, and then take some time to give thanks to God in prayer.
