Love is the Greatest Gift
The Preacher continues to outline the vanity of life, labor, and wisdom. He urges the reader to fear God because of His holy and righteous character. He observes the hardships of life "under the sun," and provides practical counsel for life in a fallen world.
Paul corrects the Corinthian church for their divisions over corporate worship. The Holy Spirit provides believers with spiritual gifts to build up one another in the body of Christ, not to create divisions over those gifts. Without love as the ultimate motive for using our gifts, we gain nothing. Love is the greatest gift because it lasts forever.
