Devin Stowers started playing basketball at the age of 10. Before long, was playing with guys older than him and twice his size.
When people told Devin he was good — really good — and it only made him want to play more, and get better. He wanted the fame, and he wanted the glory. In high school, he became an All-Conference, All-Area, All-State player.
But basketball stardom also led him into a life of sin, where he felt nothing could stop him from getting what he wanted.
Devin was invited to a NewSpring Fuse service and received a scholarship to the Gauntlet, where he asked Jesus into his life.
Immediately, he knew the beginning of his journey with God meant the end of his journey with basketball.
But Devin wasn't prepared to give up his college dream.
Instead of success, he found only pain and struggle.
God gave Devin an unbelievable talent, but Devin discovered that if what you love the most isn't God but the gift he gives us, God loves us enough to take it away.
Watch the video to find out how Devin found his true purpose.
Update: In July of 2014, Devin joined the staff as Fuse director at NewSpring Greenwood, where he now uses his love of the game to build relationships with students.
