Shane Moss Wondered If His Life Meant Anything To Anyone

Shane Moss’ Story

For most of Shane Moss’ life, the feeling of abandonment lurked in the background.

Shane’s father died when he was only 3 months old, and his only experience with a father figure was an abusive step-dad. At 14, Shane’s mother sided with his stepdad, forcing Shane out of his home.

Throughout the chaos, his best friend, John Mark, was always there for him. But, at 16, John Mark died in a car wreck, leaving Shane more alone than ever.

Shane fell into a deep, dark depression not wanting to live anymore. At first, Shane turned to drugs to cope with his pain, but eventually, this temporary relief became a lifestyle. Drugs took him places he never thought he would go and he questioned if this was really the life he was created for.

The whole weight of all the regret and all the sins was just lifted off my heart and made me feel like a new person.

When he started attending NewSpring Church, he didn’t know what to expect. But he found acceptance and never felt judged because of his past. During an invitation at a Christmas service in 2012, Shane felt like it was time to ask Jesus into his life.

"The whole weight of all the regret and all the sins was just lifted off my heart and made me feel like a new person," Shane says. "A new start was about to happen in my life."

At NewSpring, he finally felt as though he belonged. He knew God had a new life planned for him, and God wouldn’t waste his pain.

Watch the video at the top of the page see how the experience of Jesus’ love made Shane feel that his life finally mattered.
