A Guide for Feasting at Home

Take this celebration to your home. Do this with whoever you call family — your group, your children, your friends, your family.

This way of celebrating is not new. Since the beginning, Christians have been gathering around a table to feast, fellowship, and focus on Jesus.

We simply want to mark this meal as special, memorable, celebrating what God has done through 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. We pray this will be a special memory with your no ordinary family and will kick off a new season of feasting on God’s goodness together.

Invitation to Gather

(Before sitting down for your meal, invite everyone to gather and pray.)

Leader: “Father, we are here and full of joy because of You.”
Response: “We are your sons and daughters. We are fully surrendered to You.”

Leader: “Jesus, We are unified as brothers and sisters today because of You.”
Response: “We are your sons and daughters. We are fully surrendered to You.”

Leader: “Holy Spirit, we invite your presence as we celebrate all You’ve done, all You’re doing, and all You will do.”
Response: “We are your sons and daughters. We are fully surrendered to You.”

Leader: “Amen.”
Response: “Amen.”

Thanking God

(Ask everyone to serve their plate, but wait before eating.)

Leader: “We take a moment now before we eat to give thanks to God. We have so much to be thankful for. As I pray, after each line, say together, “Thanks be to God.”

Leader: “We thank You Lord for your abundant provision.”
Response: “Thanks be to God.”

Leader: “We thank You Lord for your wise guidance.”
Response: “Thanks be to God.”

Leader: “We thank You Lord for lovingly teaching us your Way.”
Response: “Thanks be to God.”

Leader: “We thank You Lord for the kind discipline of this season.
Response: “Thanks be to God.”

Leader: “We thank You Lord for the refreshment that comes from repentance.
Response: “Thanks be to God.”

Leader: “Let’s all raise our cup to our King Jesus. He is worthy of our praise and thankfulness. To the King!"
Response: “To the King!”

Leader: “Let us join together and eat. While we eat, let’s be reminded of the goodness of our God.”

Remembering His Goodness

Leader: “During our meal, let’s take time to remember God’s goodness.”

Questions to ask during the meal:

  • How has God been good to you in this last season?
  • During this 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting, what has God taught you?
  • Do you think there will be any changes in your life because of this time?
  • What will you remember most about the faithfulness of God in 2020?

Looking Ahead in Hope

Leader: "As we conclude our meal, let’s take a moment to ask God to bless us in this new season."

Leader: "Isaiah 43 says,
’Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert.
The wild beasts will honor me,
    the jackals and the ostriches,
for I give water in the wilderness,
    rivers in the desert,
to give drink to my chosen people,
the people whom I formed for myself
that they might declare my praise.’

Father, we look ahead in hope. Make a way for us and bless us. We trust that You are doing a new thing. May your peace guard our hearts and minds as we step into a new season. We seal this time in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”

Respond: "Amen!"
