Session 13
Do You Have A Craving?
From 1 Peter: A 20-Day Devotional
Can you imagine eating the same food day after day, month after month for an entire year? As newborn babies, we received milk as our main source of nourishment and we continued to crave it. Without it, we wouldn’t have grown.
Just like babies need milk to grow, we listen to Jesus to grow in our relationship with Him. As we spend time getting to know what God tells us in the Bible, we begin to see the good things He has for us.
In 1 Peter 2:1-3, Peter lists some areas in our lives that are harmful as we grow in our walk with Jesus. But this shouldn’t scare us. As we listen to Jesus and do what He says, He begins to change our heart and turn our desires away from these things.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:6 that the way to be blessed and filled in this life is to, “hunger and thirst for righteousness.” Once we’ve tasted God’s goodness, we crave more of it! Obedience now helps us continue to be obedient later.
Reflect:
- How have you tasted God’s goodness in your life this week?
- In what areas of your life do you need Jesus’ help to change?
- What are you currently “hungering and thirsting” for?
