My Father Sings Over Me

“He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” - Zephaniah 3:17

As a kid, I never understood why my dad was always singing. When we weren’t talking about life, sports, or music, chances are Dad was singing. It wasn’t just a hum or a whisper. Dad would sing at the top of his lungs. Sometimes it got on my nerves. But then, I would find myself singing along. As I’ve gotten older, I look back on those moments and see the joy singing brought to both of us. My dad loved spending time with his children and his singing showed his joy.

God loves to spend time with his children. Zephaniah 3:17 says “For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” 

Not only do we get to sing praises to God, but He is singing songs of joy over us. This truth can bring us peace and joy every day. Let’s sing and give glory to God today because we know He is delighted with us… and He is singing!
