Session 42
Jesus has overcome the world
From The Life of Jesus: 50 Days in the Book of John
Read John 16:16-33
Now, spend some time reflecting on what you read and what stood out to you.
In verse 20, Jesus says that our sorrow will turn into joy. He promises that the suffering and hardship we face will pass. Have you seen hard times pass in your life before? Where can you use this promise and trust that He will work things together for your good?
Jesus tells the disciples in verse 32 that they will all scatter, and He will be alone. Then, He says that He actually won’t be alone because the Father is with Him. We can feel alone often, especially when we obey God and do what He says. Do you ever feel lonely? How does it change your thinking to know God would be with you despite anything?
What does it mean that Jesus has “overcome the world?”
Finally, spend some time responding to Jesus in prayer. What do you want to thank Him for? What do you want to ask Him for? What do you need to confess to Him?
