Read John 6:1-15

Now, spend some time reflecting on what you read and what stood out to you.

  • Before reading this story, have you heard of Jesus feeding the five thousand? What stuck out to you?
  • In verse 15, why did Jesus hide when they tried to make him King? Especially since we already know He is the King above all else! Why didn’t He choose to step into what they wanted to do?
  • Jesus tells the disciples to gather the leftover food so nothing would be lost. Jesus was able to make as much food as He wanted, but He still told them to save what wasn’t eaten. What can this teach us about stewardship?

Finally, spend some time responding to Jesus in prayer. What do you want to thank Him for? What do you want to ask Him for? What do you need to confess to Him?
