The tomb is empty

From The Life of Jesus: 50 Days in the Book of John

Read John 20:1-18

Now, spend some time reflecting on what you read and what stood out to you.

• Okay, put yourself in Mary’s shoes ( … or sandals). She shows up at the tomb, and it’s empty. She probably had a lot of thoughts going through her mind. Then, out of nowhere, Jesus appears to her. She hugs Him while weeping because He’s alive! What do you think would change for you if you were in her shoes? How would your life be different after seeing Him resurrected?
  

• We know that Jesus resurrected from the dead, but it’s easy to miss what all that reveals for our lives. Where can you take hold of that promise over some hard things you may be dealing with?
  

• In order for the miracle of resurrection to take place, Jesus had to die. Do you feel like anything has to die in your life so that new things can come to life?

Finally, spend some time responding to Jesus in prayer. What do you want to thank Him for? What do you want to ask Him for? What do you need to confess to Him?
